4FEM Optimization of PV/AKU

Batteries and PV

This application is used to facilitate the sizing of energy units containing a system with a battery, a photovoltaic power plant (hereinafter referred to as PVP) and other energy sources (e.g. cogeneration, electrolyzers, etc.). For the calculation, it is necessary to provide consumption and production data in quarter-hour readings. If you do not have a production diagram available, the tool has the option of generating production data for a given location using the PVGIS server. In this interface, you can precisely define the installation used in the system, or, conversely, use the calculations to find ideal PVP parameters. Based on the specified input parameters, the energy balance is calculated after 1/4 hour and the current state of the system is evaluated at each point in time. The output of the calculations is monthly and annual balances including economic evaluation. Last but not least, the data is plotted into relevant graphs and the data can be exported and used for further analysis. The results can be exported to an automatically generated output report in PDF format. If the user is still looking for the ideal solution for their energy unit (object), they can use the optimization function, which calculates various battery and PV size variants and provides data on the basis of which the optimal solution can be found. The criteria for such optimization can be related to either energy or economic outputs.

Peak-shaving

Another task solved using 4FEM is a system with a battery that helps to balance consumption peaks in the system and thus reduce the reserved power consumption of a given object. Based on the inputs, such reserved power consumption is calculated for individual months to prevent the battery from being completely discharged = the battery will always be ready to cover sudden energy peaks. If the battery is not fully charged and the current consumption is lower than the reserved power consumption, the battery is charged from the distribution system. It is discharged only if the current consumption increases above the reserved power consumption limit. A consumption diagram needs to be added to the calculation (usually the object's consumption from previous years). Based on the input parameters, the energy balance is calculated after 1/4 hour and the current state of the system is evaluated. The output of the calculations is monthly balances including economic evaluation. Last but not least, the data is plotted in relevant graphs.

The application is fully interactive and dynamic. In the graphs, you can filter selected data series, zoom in and evaluate them. The filtered data can be downloaded in .csv format. The results can be exported to an automatically generated output report in PDF format. The entire calculation process is automated as much as possible to speed up and facilitate work and time.

The 4FEM application is still under development, being improved and new functions and options are gradually being added. At the same time, it is already actively used in commercial contracts and is therefore verified directly by our customers.
