Batteries are not diesel. We presented at a conference of transport companies

At a recent professional event for representatives of transport companies from the Czech and Slovak Republics, we had the opportunity to introduce our Telematics Unit and at the same time to explain the issue of batteries in modern transport – from their chemistry, through their lifespan, to correct user habits.

The opening speech was given by Petr Gaman, who presented current trends in the field of traction batteries. He emphasized that choosing the right battery technology is not a simple choice based on parameters, but a real “alchemy” – depending on the designer’s experience and operating conditions. Petr Malaska followed up, explaining in his popular-educational presentation why it is necessary to think about batteries differently than traditional fuels: “Batteries are not diesel – they have their own specifics and require a different approach.”

This foundation opened the way for Ondřej Švanda, who presented specific solutions in the field of energy management and fleet monitoring. He mentioned, among other things, how data can be used to optimize operations and predict the technical condition of vehicles. There was significant interest in this topic among the participants – especially from the largest transport companies.

In conclusion, Petr Gaman took the floor again, addressing the topic of second-life batteries. A surprising finding was that the capacity of used traction batteries decreases more slowly than is commonly expected, and actual disposal is more of an exception than a rule. The main message was clear: If we treat batteries correctly, they will last longer than we expect.

The program concluded with a lecture by Václav Jírovský on the topic of autonomous vehicle control, which offered not only technical insight, but also an analytical view of overall mobility in cities. It was said that an effective solution could be a combination of autonomous vehicles with a smaller capacity and a higher frequency of connections.

The atmosphere in the hall was positive and we noted sincere interest in the topics discussed. We are pleased to have been able to contribute to a deeper understanding of the technologies that will determine the future of urban transport.
